About Me

Education and Experience:

Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I taught elementary school for 10 years. I received my Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge and taught in a private school setting and in a public school for Los Angeles Unified School District. Having been a teacher has afforded me the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of a child’s struggle– be it academic, behavioral, social or emotional– while in a school setting. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from National University and Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and Board of Behavioral Sciences certified Clinical Supervisor specializing in children, teens and families. I am a licensed by the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been trained by several experts and clinics including traineeships at A Center for Creative Change with Dr. Barbara Dobrin, a well-known expressive art therapist, and at Advantage Family Services. I have worked for mental health programs such as San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center’s “Children’s System of Care” an intensive, in-home program for at-risk youth and at Casa Pacifica’s Children’s Intensive Response Team “CIRT,” a mobile crisis team for children/adolescents where I conducted higher level mental health assessments for children, adolescents and young adults to determine danger to self and others. I currently work at a non-public school as an Independent Contract Therapist counseling children and adolescents diagnosed with autism, severe emotional disturbance and mental retardation in addition to private practice where I specialize in working with children, teens, young adults and families.

Along with my clinical work, I have extensive experience collaborating with a variety of mental health providers such as psychiatrists, psychologists, behaviorists, social workers and inpatient psychiatric staff. I have, and continue to interface with many allied agencies such as  local school districts, Department of Social Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, and Department of Mental Health to ensure best practices and continuity of care. I have significant experience providing case management services to assist clients in gaining access to various programs, services and benefits to meet their needs.

I am in good standing as a Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
